Artist Statement

My name is Charles G. D. Harding and I am a graphic designer. Designing is something that I love to do. I get excited with the idea of being able to manipulate emotions and convey a message through the organization of shape and color. I work very well with a process that allows me to apply my creativity to a template. I like to work in an orderly process that is very organized.  Graphic design is perfect for that. I aspire to someday have a career in an environment that gives me opportunities to apply concepts such as these.

I like my work to be very structured and clean, but I also like to add my own little flare to it as well. I like all of my work to have a little something in it that tells that viewer that Charles G. D. Harding made it, but at the same time not going overboard. I tend to practice “controlled creativity”. I am very picky with my choice of colors. Sometimes too many colors, as well as too little can be a bad thing.  I search for the healthy medium in all of my work because balance is very important to me as an individual.

I am currently a student and I am enjoying it very much. I have fun with my assignments and have a desire to do the very best I can do. As well as being in school I make an effort to enter design competitions as well search for freelance design jobs on the side. There are definitely challenges like learning new software and becoming comfortable with            using them. But I tend to thrive when challenged so it has so far been a very fulfilling experience. I am excited for what challenges await me.
