Flowers, time lapse – 5 min. writing.

Flowers, time lapse – 5 min. writing.

I find that in examples of time lapse like the ones shown in Louis Schwartzberg’s video about flowers and the things that surround them, it might be easy to call it too sensational, but I think the opposite. I find that when watching the videos it gives me a much closer look at nature and thus, giving me a much deeper appreciation for it. It gives brings me close enough to have an almost intimate feel for nature. I find the videos beautiful. It is a beautiful thing to see nature sped up to the pace of us humans because you really see how amazing they are in the right perspective. Everything done well, is done slowly.

My Favourite Food

My Favourite Food – 5 min. writing

My favourite foods are the ones that I cook myself. I always get the best satisfaction from the foods that I make myself. Be it pasta, or burgers, or exotic meats. They all taste delicious. I find that cooking is an artform. I put just as much creativity into the things that I cook as I would into any drawing. Sometimes the things that I cook come out like my doodles (chaos), and sometimes they come out like my designs (neat and tidy).  No matter what I cook and no matter how it tastes, I always have a deep taste of satisfaction in the end. Cooking is an art and art is what I like to do. So every food I cook is my favourite food.

My name is Charles G. D. Harding and I am a graphic designer. Designing is something that I love to do. I get excited with the idea of being able to manipulate emotions and convey a message through the organization of shape and color. I work very well with a process that allows me to apply my creativity to a template. I like to work in an orderly process that is very organized.  Graphic design is perfect for that. I aspire to someday have a career in an environment that gives me opportunities to apply concepts such as these.
I like my work to be very structured and clean, but I also like to add my own little flare to it as well. I like all of my work to have a little something in it that tells that viewer that Charles G. D. Harding made it, but at the same time not going overboard. I tend to practice “controlled creativity”. I am very picky with my choice of colors. Sometimes too many colors, as well as too little can be a bad thing.  I search for the healthy medium in all of my work because balance is very important to me as an individual.
I am currently a student and I am enjoying it very much. I have fun with my assignments and have a desire to do the very best I can do. As well as being in school I make an effort to enter design competitions as well search for freelance design jobs on the side. There are definitely challenges like learning new software and becoming comfortable with            using them. But I tend to thrive when challenged so it has so far been a very fulfilling experience. I am excited for what challenges await me.

A Farewell To Flesh

A Farewell to Flesh

In “A Farewell to Flesh”, Kim Vose Jones brings with her work a statement about sexuality. It’s a statement that promotes sexuality as being a pure, innocent, and natural act that sometimes has a dirty name put to it. She expresses her statement through the use of very simple materials that are organized in a very complex, elegant and tasteful way. Her work is aesthetically pleasing and carries a very valuable message.
Kim’s choice of materials runs parallel with the concept that she is pushing in her work. Simple and basic. “When I’m looking for material, I’ll go to Canadian Tire.” She uses things like driveway salt, glass, fabrics, plastic pipes, pillows, bags, etc. As well as using simple materials, she uses simple colors. Her color scheme directly relates to theme of her work, as she only uses white. White is a color that in North American culture traditional represents purity and cleanliness. When you approach her work you almost immediately feel as if you are in a sterile environment.
The way that Kim Vose Jones organizes her work is what is what really pushes her theme. All of the materials are organized in manner that suggests different aspects of sexuality. There are many shapes that represent and look like male and female genitalia. There are shapes that seem to also represent sperm and egg cells. The salt that was poured everywhere seems to be in reference to the salty liquids of the reproductive system. One would think that walking into a room packed full of reproductive organs would make them feel uncomfortable. But, surprisingly, there is a strong feeling of innocence that invades the room, almost as if you were to walk into a room full of babies.
The message that Kim Vose Jones is trying to bridge is not one that is provocative or scandalous. She is bringing things back to the basics. Sometimes there is the connotation put on sexuality as being a sinful and treacherous act. But Kim Vose Jones denies that in her work. She brings us a very ancient and simple truth about sexuality and about nature. Sexuality is very pure, very innocent, and is how we humans are still around.
“A Farewell to Flesh” is an exhibit that speaks a valuable truth about sexuality and accentuates it as one of the most important aspects of humanity. Her work is extremely pleasing to the eye and provokes strong emotions like feelings of purity and cleanliness. The materials she uses ingeniously reflects the simplicity of her message. Through her work, Kim Vose Jones has created a very successful depiction of the truth about sexuality and serves as a reminder to those who’s thoughts have been twisted to think otherwise.

Stress

You know, sometimes, I just feel like turning into a piece of floating mush. It would be so much easier. No good, no bad, no stress, just floating. It seems like it would be so relaxing. If I were a floating piece of mush I wouldn't have to worry about my future, or having enough money. I wouldn't have to work. Sick. But then again, what would be the point.

Snow.

Snow.
Snow is white.
Some dogs are also white.
Dogs are my 3rd favourite animal.
Animals are furry.
Fur is warm.
Warmth is a good thing to have when it is cold.
When it is cold, it snows.
